Ashley Madekwe and Ashley Leggat
Madekwe was born South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. Madekwe is English but her father is Nigerian. She was born and raised on a council estate south of London. At the age fourteen, she was enrolled at The Brit School. In London, she studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in which her acting diploma was obtained. She appeared on stage in several productions as a student such as the role of King Henry V, as Princess Katherine, and Wuthering Heights, as Catherine Earnshaw.
Madekwe started her acting career through the movie Storm Damage. Over the past few years Madekwe's appearance in Teachers and Doctors. Madekwe landed her first motion-picture role in the Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream, opposite Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor. In the following year, she played Elisha (a BBC Three drama-pilot) in West 10 LDN. Additionally, she starred in Trexx as Ollie and in six episodes of Flipside. Madekwe played Bambi as Bambi in The ITV2 drama Secret Diary of a Call Girl. Madekwe was the main character in 2008's comedy How to Alienate and Lose Friends. Her theatre credits include Little Sweet Thing by Roy Williams as well as Flight Path by David Watson.
Madekwe had her official US debut on the drama series The Beautiful Life, which just aired two episodes in the US on The CW before being cancelled. In February, she was cast 2011 as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. Madekwe appeared in all episodes of the series' second season as a regular. However, in May of 2013, it was announced that word broke that the actress would be departing the show following her guest appearance in the premiere episode of its third season. Madekwe starred as Tituba in the television series Salem from 2014 until the year 2016. Madekwe, along with her boyfriend of many years, Iddo Goldenberg, were wedding in June of 2012. The two have collaborated on Secret Diary of a Call Girl in the past, and Goldberg is also a part of the cast in the television series Salem.
Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with an extended family. Four of her older brothers were also in the family including twins Todd & Bram, Brett & Rob. Ashley's sports brothers played baseball in summer and hockey during winters. Ashley was never able to walk, but she danced. At the age of two, she took up Baby Ballet and fell in love. Ashley became a dancer immediately. Ashley was a dancer who competed throughout the various categories until the time she graduated from high school. The competitions she participated in included jazz, tap, ballet, pointe and Acrobatics. Ashley was awarded the top soloist prize at each major dance contest, which included International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance and many more, just to mention a few.
